How it works
The FOGRod works by conductivity: water conducts and air doesn't. Each of its 10 metal contacts tells the panel unit whether it is under water, so the panel always knows the level in 10 steps.
1 · In the wet well
A rod with 10 metal contacts, hanging from its own cable and a supplied bracket just under the lid. No moving parts, sensors or electronics. 3 ft, 5 ft and 7.5 ft lengths.
2 · In the control panel
The Level Indicator Transmitter mounts on a DIN rail. It reads which contacts are under water, works around grease, and gives a Clean FOGRod alert when it needs cleaning.
3 · Into your existing controls
10 level relays work like floats: pick the ones you want for off, lead, lag and alarm, and wire them to the terminals the floats used. A 4–20 mA output suits transducer-style control or SCADA. Two fault relays.
Once the level drops below the bottom contact, no current can flow through air. Any failure stops the pumps; it can't run them dry.
Each of the 10 level points backs up the ones below it. If one contact isn't working, the pump still starts, just a little higher in the wet well.

Where it hangs, at installation
You can't tell by looking whether grease will cause a problem. The LIT detects when measurement is affected, works around it, and alarms when cleaning is needed.
The bracket bolts into the concrete or steel just under the lid, and the FOGRod hangs from it on its own cable. See installation photos
The bracket includes a cleaning pad. Pull the FOGRod up through it and it's clean, which is much easier than cleaning floats.

Choosing a length
Match the distance from pump off to high alarm, not the depth of the well. Longer spans use two or more FOGRods (10 ft and 15 ft systems are two rods on one LIT).
